FCW Spring Professional Development

2023 FCW Spring Professional Development - Life is All About Choices, May 9-11, 2023

Here is a sneak peek at what you will experience May 9th-11th at NDSU and Casselton.  Registration deadline is April 25th.

Day 1, May 9th 11:30am

Start the workshop with a self-serve lunch bar while you “catch up” with your Extension friends.

Join Jane Strommen and Ellen Bjelland for a thought-provoking discussion on What Baby Boomers want in retirement. Together we will create new and innovative approaches to meeting the needs and aspirations of the retirees we serve in our communities.

Chelsea Hammond, Danielle Dinger and Monica Kramer McConkey, LPC will lead us in some much-needed self-care time. As you draw and unwind, we will converse about the importance and impact of self-talk.

Kari Helgoe will lead the North Dakota Extension Association of Family and Consumer Science (NDAEFCS) meeting.

Day 2, May 10th, 8:00am

Katie Tyler starts our day with a fun bus ride to Casselton, ND where we will experience a small town with a lot to offer. What is Extension’s role in Community Development and Leadership? We will hear from a panel, see community development up close, learn about the seven community capitals and asset mapping, eat lunch, and take a tour! We’ll return to Fargo around 6:00-6:30pm. Plan dinner with your friends!

Day 3, May 11th, 8:00am

Join Jan Stankiewicz, Molly Soeby and the Community Coaches to learn more about social determinants of health which often remain unseen - until they are felt, usually by only certain groups of people. Meet the Community Coaches who enter into meaningful, often difficult conversations with community members. Discover how NDSU Extension is involved.

We will also learn about the Food Navigator Toolkit, Capturing PSE in PEARS, and award the Top Banana to the most “appealing” ice breaker entry.

Requests for accomodations related to disability should be made to the event contact person at least two weeks in advance of the event.
